Who We Are

Pet Thoughts is developed by Macintology, an independent iOS developer. Questions about this policy can be sent to support@macintology.org.

Information We Do Not Collect

We do not collect, and have no access to:

• Photos you take or select from your library
• AI-generated text or thoughts produced by the app
• Share cards you create or export
• Your name, email address, or any account information
• Device identifiers, advertising IDs, or analytics
• Location data
• Usage data or behavioral analytics
• Crash reports

How the AI Works

Pet Thoughts uses Apple's on-device AI framework (Apple Intelligence / Foundation Models), which runs entirely on your iPhone. Your photos are analyzed and thoughts are generated locally, on your device.

No photo or image is ever sent to our servers — because we have no servers that receive this data. No text is sent to any third-party AI provider. The entire AI pipeline is local.

Apple's Foundation Models framework is governed by Apple's own privacy policy for iOS system features. We do not control or have access to any data processed by Apple's on-device systems.

Photo Library Access

If you choose to select a photo from your library, Pet Thoughts uses iOS's built-in photo picker (PhotosPicker), which gives the app access only to the specific photo you select — not your entire library. This is enforced by iOS.

If you use the in-app camera, the photo is used only within the current session. It is not saved to your library unless you explicitly export or save it.

Sharing and Export

When you use the Share or Save to Photos feature, the share card image is created entirely on your device. It is shared via the standard iOS share sheet, which you control. We do not receive a copy of anything you share.

Third-Party Services

Pet Thoughts does not integrate any third-party analytics, advertising, crash reporting, or tracking SDKs. There are no third-party SDKs in the app at all.

Data Retention

Because we collect no data, there is nothing to retain, delete, or request. Uninstalling the app removes all local app data from your device.

Changes to This Policy

If we ever change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where required, notify users via an app update. We will never retroactively expand data collection without clear disclosure.
