Your pet's thoughts deserve to work perfectly. Let's fix that.

Frequently Asked

Why does Pet Thoughts require iOS 26?
Pet Thoughts uses Apple Intelligence — Apple's on-device AI, introduced in iOS 26. Because all AI processing happens locally on your device, we can't support older iOS versions that don't include this framework. If you're running iOS 26 but don't see the AI feature working, make sure Apple Intelligence is enabled in Settings → Apple Intelligence & Siri.
The app says "Apple Intelligence unavailable." What do I do?

A few things to check:

  • Open Settings → Apple Intelligence & Siri and make sure it's enabled.
  • Apple Intelligence requires a compatible device (iPhone 15 Pro or later, iPhone 16 series). Older models may not support on-device AI.
  • Make sure your device language and region are set to a supported locale (US English to start).
  • If you recently updated to iOS 26, Apple Intelligence may still be downloading — check the same Settings page for a progress indicator.

Even if Apple Intelligence is unavailable, Pet Thoughts falls back to a built-in template engine so you'll still get fun thoughts — just without the LLM magic.

The app says "No pet detected." But there's definitely a pet in my photo!
Pet Thoughts uses Apple's Vision framework to detect animals in photos. Occasionally it misses pets that are partially cropped, in unusual positions, or very small in frame.

When this happens, you'll see a "There's a Pet Here!" button on the share card. Tap it to re-run detection — you'll get a proper thought generated for your pet instead of the no-pet roast.

For best results, use a photo where your pet is the main subject and clearly visible.
Can I use a photo of multiple pets?
Yes! When Pet Thoughts detects multiple animals in a photo, the generated thought reflects the multi-pet dynamic — sibling rivalry, pack mentality, or shared disdain for Monday mornings. Try the Chaotic or Sarcastic modes for multi-pet photos. The results are usually excellent.
My pet's thought is too long / got cut off on the share card.
Pet Thoughts automatically enforces a 25-word limit and will retry generation if the output is too long. In rare cases all retries may produce long output — if this happens, tap Regenerate for a fresh attempt. The Landscape card format also truncates text to 2 lines to fit the layout; try the Story or Square format for longer thoughts.
Does the app work without an internet connection?
Yes — completely. All AI processing, photo analysis, and thought generation happen on your device. Pet Thoughts works in airplane mode, on a plane, in a bunker, wherever. The only time internet is needed is to download the app from the App Store initially.
Are my photos sent anywhere?
No. Your photos never leave your device. Pet Thoughts has no backend server, no data pipeline, and no analytics. The app cannot physically send your photos anywhere — there's nowhere to send them. See our Privacy Policy for the full details.
Can I save the share card to my Photos library?
Yes. On the share card screen, tap Save to Photos. The app will ask for Photos access the first time — grant it and the card is saved. You can also tap Copy to copy the image directly to your clipboard, or use Share to send it anywhere via the iOS share sheet.
The thought generation seems to always fall back to templates. Is AI working?
Pet Thoughts uses three tiers: Apple Intelligence (on-device LLM), a template engine, and a fallback phrase bank. If Apple Intelligence isn't available on your device or isn't enabled, the app gracefully falls to the template engine — which still produces funny, varied thoughts, just not LLM-generated ones.

To verify: go to Settings → Apple Intelligence & Siri and confirm it shows as active. On supported devices with AI enabled, the LLM tier runs first.
How do I request a refund?
Pet Thoughts is free to download. If you've made an in-app purchase (future feature), refund requests go through Apple directly at reportaproblem.apple.com. We can't process refunds ourselves since all transactions are handled by Apple.
